Most shops are either “against it ”, or “for it”, with customer supplied parts.

The “for it” shops don’t have to warranty anything. If you have issues later, tough luck.

The “against it” shops usually warranty their parts and labor.

That said, the “for it” shops are slowly disappearing.
Mostly because of fitment issues. Whether it’s bad quality parts, or the wrong part completely.
Time is money. And it cost the shop money wasting time on bad parts.
    Can’t say I blame them.

Super easy, and you get to laugh at the gasket.

This is going to sound “tool snobbish”.
But I’d question the reliability of a $14 wrench.
Those bolts are going INTO the block. That’s not something I’d want to risk having to “fix”.
Maybe if it were a less important component, but not the block.

The manufacturer has to make a profit, the shipper has to make a profit, and the seller has to make a profit. Make me wounded about the actual coat of the wrench? I bet less than $10

How much faith are you willing to put into a $10 tool?

I’d go with a cheap deflecting beam before I would a cheap click type.
You can see the beam move, but it’s too late if you don’t hear the click.

Well you dont need a torque wrench .......until you do....

In all honesty....I almost always coat something on the threads.....

with the torque ratings meant for dry threads......

.....its easy to see how you could get into some trouble.....if you dont think it thru......

If you're a blue loctite fan.....perfect torque isnt as important.....my shit with never come loose......or end up with a bad seize ten years out......

Unfortunately not. I've always worked on my own vehicles so I dont have any experience with shops.
