New to the forum, but I have enjoyed reading for info. A new problem on the 04 Tacoma. Went from running fine to almost undrivable instantly. Code shows random misfires on cylinder 1, 3, 4, and 5. This literally happendin a span of 400yds. I have seen alot if info pointing many different directions. The vehicle is well maintained recently bought and has 90k miles on it. That being said my son did accidently turn on the ECT prior to driving the last time and just prior to this happening. Any help would be appreciated.

I had something similar to this. Cylinder 6 misfire detected, Code 306. Random/mutiple cylinder misfire detected, Code PO300. Cylinder 5 Misfire detected,CodeP305 and Cylinder 6 Misfire detected, Code PO306. A new set of spark plug wires solved the problem. Good Luck.

Have you checked your spark plug wires?

Mine started misfiring a few years back, but it was a coil pack pair of cylinders so the solution was pretty self-evident. With cylinders 1, 3, 5, and 6 misfiring all at once, that's all 3 coilpacks, so I think you need to backup a step. The ECU tells the coilpacks when to fire the sparkplugs. Multiple sudden misfires sounds like your ECU got confused, maybe? Or your timing belt slipped so the cylinders aren't at TDC when the cylinder fires?
