New member. Does anyone know of any companies that specialize in cosmetically and mechanically restoring tacomas. I love my 04 so much, thinking ( depending on cost) if trying to make it new

    Welcome to the forum.

While Tacomas are great, its not a hot rod. No specialty tacoma shop that I am aware of. Any competent mechanic can throw new parts at it. For that matter you could too. Check out camelbacktoyotaparts.com for diagrams, and parts at a decent price.

As such, depending on whats wrong, it may be easier or cheaper in the long run just to buy another truck that is in better shape.

    Pictures?

    Good luck.

You can do most of this yourself. Unless you have some ultra-rare classic, most restoration specialists are a waste of money...

Also, cosmetically speaking... unless you have huge dents and missing clearcoat, a good wash + clay bar + polish can work wonders...

Pics and a detailed list of issues you'd like to get resolved will make this a task you can accomplish by yourself or with the help of a trusted mechanic and auto body shop.

    Welcome to TW!

I rebuilt a 1962 Impala in my younger low riding days (engine, tranny, paint, interior, frame and hydraulics). Its not difficult it just takes time, space and money (helps if you have friends that are knowledgeable too).

You can outsource everything between a few different shops depending on what type of restoration you want to do. It can be as simple of having the engine/tranny pulled out (for rebuilding), interior pulled out (for rebuilding) and then sending it to the paint shop. Then sending it back to all the shops for reassembly. Or your can do a full frame off restoration... but this requires much more work and not for the timid. Heres a great frame off of a 1980:
