My Toyota Truestart group 24F battery looks like it may need replacing after 8.5 years. What are you guys running - Diehard Gold AGM ($120)? Replace with another Truestart flooded lead-acid ($110)? Odyssey AGM ($241)? Exide AGM ($171)?

Color matches your spark plug wires, too. Looks like Pep Boys is sole distributor for Bosch batteries. I wonder who makes them - Exide?

I'll never get an AGM again. When they fail , THEY FAIL.

Got one for my wife's car (Diehard), with 3-year full replacement. After 2.5 years, it failed completely and I couldn't even jump-start it. I had to install a new battery in the shopping center parking lot. I had the same experience with Optima red-tops.

I am still using the Lead acid Interstate battery the Interstate sales person told me to not waste my money on the AGM batteries

I can see AGM batteries being more of a hard core off road thing

One more thought - Toyota designed the charging system to go with a flooded lead acid battery. AGMs like a little bit higher charging voltage and I don't think the regulator built in to the alternator can have its voltage adjusted. I am leaning toward keeping the battery chemistry the same.

Interstate is always a reliable choice, and if you have an actual store local they do blems, scratched or sticker folded, etc, they are inexpensive.
