i got this write up off another ct.com and i havent been able to find one on here for the 04s so im gunna post this one up however before i get started the guy said that since youre going to do the inside of the lens you do not need clear coat is this true??

"Pretty simple to do. Cleaned the lens off with Windex and sprayed a couple of light layers of Pactra R/C window tint on the inside of the lens (on the inside so the trails can't scratch them up ). Subtle but good looking. Didn't tint the reverse lights... for obvious reasons. ;)

    Here's a more detailed write-up:

First off, go to your local hobby store (HobbyTownUSA, for example) and go into the R/C paints section. Get the Pactra brand R/C window tint. One can should be enough, but I got two, just in case. This should be around $3 per 3oz can. I only used about half of one can to do my tail lights[IMG]. We used about a full can to do my friend's sentra's taillights (they are larger and we had to redo them because they weren't perfect :)).

    1. Remove tail lights from housing
    2. Mask off properly (as shown)
    3. Make sure the parts you are painting are CLEAN and free of dust.
    4. Spray LIGHT coats on within a few minutes. (i.e. one light coat, wait 5 minutes, another light coat, wait 5 minutes, repeat)
    5. I let them dry for 2 hours before putting them back on the truck. Depending on your local climate, you may need to wait longer.

As a side note, I would also add that the rubber stripping that goes around the tail light[IMG] will most likely fall off the lens when you pull it off the housing. Just make sure the rubber stripping is set in the right place on the housing and screw the lenses on over them.

To clean them before painting I recommend wiping them down with rubbing alcohol and letting any excess alcohol dry in sunlight before painting. just my .02

Mine are the same as SRQ's but I painted the outside

I tried clear coating them but it came out silver... i can't figure out what happened there. I ended up wet sanding down to where the red was showing through again and shot a few more coats of VHT niteshades. It still ended up looking pretty good.
