040 Super White paint

has anyone had any issues with super white paint 040 on their 2021 Tacoma?

Post 317, while not specifically what you are seeking, does a fair job of outlining what Toyota currently is and is not doing.

 

I did read most of the threads on the super white paint 040, but wanted to know if the paint was improved and what was happening to the 2021 model. I've had mine for two years now and no paint issues yet.

 

most paint issues don't show up until the 4 year plus mark.

 

Post #634 in the above thread has a report of paint failure on a 2021.

 

I've seen a few 2020s pop up on a tacoma page on facebook.

 

What if I told you that, in three months, all your paint was going to come off the top of your doors. What would you do? Can't glue that shit on.

 

Can’t use touch up paint or wrap it either… I am going to do it over myself the real way. I learned how to do a good paint job on my first car a long time ago, so this will be easy. Might customize it also. How many cans do you think it will take?

 

For me? One gallon, one roller and one brush. Sherwin Williams finest gloss white trim. Will last forever.

 

On the Facebook side of the Tacoma groups the 2021 and 2022 models still have it popping up. Its the same paint, same problems.

It’s like having a friend with cancer…. You know sooner or later it will show up. Well ok, it’s not like that but it is sad when it’s first noticed and then you’ll be about it knowing Toyota won’t do anything about it.
