I have an 05 with 225K. Getting a little concerned with the HG failures on the #6 Im hearing/reading about on the 05 and 06's before they changed the gaskets. I had a bad thermostat last year and bounced the temp gauge off H, 1 or 2 times for short periods. Anybody got any suggestions/experiences or advice what to do?? I haven't thrown a P300 code and I dont have any of the telltale signs or symptoms. But getting a little paranoid of it being a ticking time bomb and concerned with taking a long roadtrip and overlanding. Do I wait to change the HG or go and do it??

Thanks, any thoughts are greatly appreciated

don't fix what's not broken... In this case I wouldn't worry about it. There are a lot of 05-06 trucks out there with higher mileage still running fine (mine included). You just won't find any threads titled "225k and my head gasket is still fine".

Yeah man I really appreciate the reply. Good point about plenty high mileage 05 and 06's out there with no issues.
