A whirring, whining or clicking sound that goes away when any pressure is applied to the clutch could be a sign that your throwout bearing or flywheel is going bad or wearing out

Ok so I've got another ? It looked like and my research shows that a car seat will got better in a 05-08 better than later models so I wonder if the older seat would fit in a newer truck

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
image.jpg My last truck was a 2009 base access cab 4x4. I did the Bilstein lift and a few other small mods like 265/75/16 Wrangler Duratracs. That being said, it wasn't gutless, but it left a LOT to be desired in the power department. Also I'm 6'4" and getting a booster seat behind the driver side forced me to have to become a circus contortionist. 70,000 miles without a single glitch though......

Looks like it's been lifted. Not a bad thing but if so make sure it was done right!

Also is it just me or does the rear bumper look a little bent downward? Check for evidence of being repainted

Killer price but the bumper does look a little funked up.

The 2.7 4x4 5 speed access cab is a fantastic truck I have an 09, it's done everything I've ever asked it to do without complaining I'm at 208k km and the most maintenance I've had to do is u joints and oil changes. It's my daily/offor road adventure mobile you won't regret it.

For the biggest driveability issue, I would recommend some time on your test drive to go 5-7 mph, put it in neutral with clutch out, and then try to figure out what gear to use. That's likely to be the most annoying thing about the transmission so see if it bothers you too much. I call it no-man's land. (hint: second gear shakes like it's going to stall, and it's almost impossible to get into 1st unless you perfectly do a 1300 rpm double-clutch shift.) The 3rd gen got rid of the single cone 1st gear synchro in favor of a triple, presumably to fix this.

And the noises, yes. The engine/transmission sound more Willys than Toyota. It's normal.

I find it pretty easy to Rev match and dump it into first especially in 4lo. I dunno I personally like the fact it's like a comfy little tractor lol but I also bought my truck to go wheeling and on adventures. Seen a few guys locally have issues with v6 6 speeds bent/broken shift forks endless TO bearing replacements etc. I will say that the 2.7 5 speed can do anything except maybe tow more than a utility trailer

the reason i went ac from the beginning over the dc was the bed size, a dc with long bed would not fit in my garage. Overall the ac is a great choice, provides the extra space when needed, plenty for children in the back but can take average sized adults when in a pinch. I wish I had the dc for this reason but my needs at time of purchase was taking into account he bed size. Imo i think the ac looks proportionally better than the dc short bed, but time of ownership like described above leaves me envious of the extra legroom in the back.

In therms of engine reliability, the 4L six is and has been reliable for me, no issues whatsoever, and the added power over the 4 is a welcome. It is a noisy engine, given the trucks lack of sound deadening.

Thanks man yeah I'm kinda sorta leaning towards 6 cyl 6 speed bc they are way easier to come by around here for a decent buy!!

Haha, yeah totally this. I usually go for first but it's a little work to make it happen smoothly. I try to rev match then slowly let that clutch out like I was starting from a stop. Takes some time but things happen slower in trucks, it's not a vette.

It's got 265 70 17 the power wasn't aweful I'm not planning on doing anything other than a good cleaning/waxing and just drive it. I don't really offrd or anything. It will pull my 6x8 enclosed trailer to go cut grass once a week!!!

    Looks good!

FWIW, if I didn't "really offrd or anything," I would have gone with 2WD. Folks got along fine with 2WD, even in snow country, for years before 4WD became common. Not trying to start a debate, just sayin'.

If this is just gonna be work truck and "major downsizing" is the order of the day and you'll be buying used and be using a different vehicle for family travel.............then why not go for a reg cab? Then a 4 cyl won't seem as bad like all the race car drivers like to make it out to be.

I use 4wd enough to need it just don't rally offrd on a regular basis..... Bc I wanted te option of taking the truck with wife and baby to be there.... Even if it doesn't happen often or at all..... And I'm a tall guy I drive a rc 94 pickup now and had a 98 Tacoma before that.... Just not enough room for me to lean the seat back in a regular cab.... And here in western nc when it does snow/ice the rds are crap bc the dot don't know how to keep them clean.....and at my job if your not there your the idiot that couldn't make it lol
