I’m looking to do this swap on a 2011 Tacoma I just bought. Just a few questions:

    1. Any idea where I can find the bumper you used?
    2. In your parts list you have a standard grill and a TRD pro insert. Do you need both if you want the TRD pro grill?
    3. From the picture it looks like your fenders went to the paint shop too.
    4. What is the size of your lift and tires?

Best bet is finding a used factory bumper. The grille is 2 separate pieces, so you will need the exterior surround and the pro insert.

    1. You can purchase it from eBay or Toyota it's an OEM style tacoma 12-15 front bumper, it's nothing special.

    2. Yes you do have to have both a regular grill surround and a TRD pro grille insert. I haven't found them sold together yet unfortunately.

    3. Good eye, you're the first person to point this out. I blended/painted the fenders on my truck just to ensure a good color match to the new front bumper, grille & hood but it's not necessary for the front end swap.

    4. Front lift is 5" Rear Lift is 3" Tires are 33" x 12.5" BFG KM3

2009 OR 6MT SBDC. I just hit a deer doing 69 last Saturday and finally got the truck into the body shop for an estimate. It’s conversion/upgrade time, but having the shop do it. They said their will to do and have for others as well, I just have to pay for any extra cost of parts and labor above and beyond the estimate for factory Toyota parts.

Should I start my own thread or post here? I’m new to post and want to do right by etiquette, I don’t want to steal a thread. Let me know. I may start my own thread and leave a link here so I don’t hijack.

The hood listed in the OP is no longer a valid link/out of stock. What is recommended as a substitute? Thanks!

If the budget permits or if you're picky about fitment/alignment, then I would recommend an OEM hood. Whether that'd be new or a used one from a dismantling shop or private party seller..

SOLD - Nice to meet lotsacars last night. Looking forward to seeing your truck after its put together.

If there is someone in the WNY area(I live near Rochester) looking to do this swap I have collected all the parts needed but I am selling my truck. The hood I have is a non scoop factory hood from a 2014. I have the Pro headlights brand new in the box also Toyota led fog lights. I have a factory bumper and grill with the TRD Pro insert. I have all the brackets, crash bar and fasteners too. I am hoping someone local or nearby would be interested in all the parts. I am not planning on shipping any of the parts at this time.

    Do I need a new crash bar if I am converting a 2006 double cab SR5 to a 2012-2015?

Ok - the part numbers are the same, for the 2006 and the 2012 (52131A). I do not see why one would need to swapped for the other?

Toyota uses 10 digits in the part numbers...they often use have the same first 5 digits and what you got there with the "A" is most likely off a diagram that several models may use....

    that being said....

I'd try to get away without it. Don't the Fender liners bolt into the bumper bar at the same spot the bumper cover does? At the spots on the end of the little wing brackets. Fender liners don't get changed...or do they? I'd think there's a good chance it'll work fine.

This isn't needed, I'm still using the original 08 one on my swap.

So not really trying to figure out how to do it myself because the autobody shop is doing most of it for me after I hit a deer! So for an update, he said he ordered all the parts and everything bolted up nicely for him. However, instead of ordering the flat OR hood, he got the Sport hood scoop! At first I was upset because of the miscommunication but the idea is starting to grow on me... it should turn out pretty cool. I just know there's an issue with glare off that scoop, especially with winter low sun, so a vinyl matte black on the scoop might be in store.

Anyway, I still haven't gotten the truck back and it's in paint now. I ordered the Victory Strike front bumper, Morimoto XB headlights and Baja Designs Squadron LED fogs for the front, so I'll be installing that once the bumper comes in. I'm excited to get the truck back soon. Once I do, I'll take some progress/"after" pictures and update again.

All other things being equal.... Is light output the same or improved w/ the 05-11 vs 12-15 headlights? Or maybe I should say...is the housing/projector a better design in the updated headlights, allowing for better output? Anyone who's done the conversion notice a difference if they went from stock to stock headlights? @crashnburn80 ? Do you know?

I believe output is improved in the 12-15 headlights over the 05-11 versions. I don't have any measured quantitative data to support that though.
