Theres a few videos on YouTube from various users you can piece together to get a good idea.

Invest in a repair manual too. They have detailed instructions with pictures of replacing/removal etc of all parts. I have the Hayes one. It’s enough to get the idea.

What do you guys think? Good or pass? I used 3/16” mild steel. Setting on the machine was 18.5v / 175 ws. As you can tell I did not cut the original piece, I just added to it. With those settings I had proper penetration.

looks solid to me with some good beads thrown down. Have you test fitted the front driveshaft to check for interference like OP had? May need to cut and replate a small section if it's too close for comfort

Seems like I will have about an 1 1/2 of clearance. I’ll be doing the cab hole, mount of trx case and lever today at night

looks like it’d work for the trans. You likely won’t be able to mount up a mid skid with it hanging that low though.

It’s not that bad honestly, seems likes it’s going to be at the same height of the bottom of the transfer case(which this thing will provide some extra protection.)

true but mid skids come up the backside of that crossmember and bolt to the back. They aren’t deep enough mounts to get the holes lined up. @foxrcing07 and I both ran into that issue with RSTs crossmember being too thick.

Expect some chopping action once it’s on the road then. :anonymous:

I say run it as is and see if you even have ground clearance issues. You got the fab skills to do another quick chop and throw a plate on there if you need to. Same thing with a mid skid, if you decide to run one just get a cheap steel mid skid and make it work

Yup and still not happy about it.

I plan on building a custom crossmember down the road, just need to finish a few other projects 1st.

Looks good to me, just keep an eye on it. I'd have added a plate on each side to tie between the front/rear of the plate here, but I think what you have will work just fine.

I’ve been wanting to turn my 07 prerunner into 4x4. I’m a broke college student right now but will definitely keep this thread in mind for when I’m ready. Great info in here. Exactly what i needed.

Putting together the ADD wire harness... anyone able to dumb down the already dumbed down instructions on what wire where?.. I’m pretty electronically illiterate.

I have the ADD side wired up and ran everything to my switch (same switch as the suggested in this thread). Mostly confused on what wires to the 12v, and where to locate a 12v source. The illumination positive and negative just go to any green wire under dash?

    thanks for any help!

There’s a crude drawing someone sketched up here somewhere. Lemme see if I can find it.

Here is what I’ve got wired up... where am I going wrong? Tapped into that 4wd 20amp fuse for the 12v, still confused on wire location to spice for pin 9 & 10. C99020DA-A5BF-4300-85C6-C96A93BE71C1.jpg

That look good to me though don't remember any gray wire on the ADD connector, should be a green/black wire. Pick whatever you'd like for illumination. Dimmer function or on content with tail lights? That will determine your choice of wiring. You don't need the dimmer hooked up for the switch to work, you can decide later to do that if you want.

Switch pin # - ADD side
    1 - keyed +12V
2 - Red wire from ADD connector Pin 1
    3 - Pink/Blue wire from ADD connector Pin 5
4 - Light Green wire from ADD connector Pin 6
    5 - Black/White wire from ADD connector Pin 2
    6- keyed +12V
7 - Light Green/Black wire from ADD connector Pin 3
    8- keyed +12V
    9 - Illumination Negative
    10 - Illumination Positive

that's good to know, sometimes Toyota likes to change wire colors even though they have the same function as before.

So you just flipped it upside down? That’s pretty cool, I haven’t seen it done that way before! Looks good, as others have mentioned it may interfere with a transfer case skid plate but you’ll likely be doing a custom skid anyway if you want one.

To give you an idea, I ended up welding angle iron onto the backside of my transmission skid (wanted to avoid using the crossmember bolt holes) and bolting the lip of my transfer case skid to that. It 110% ugly af but it works alright lol

I like your idea for attaching the t-case skid to the transmission skid. It looks like the back edge and the frame attachment points might bend pretty easily though. Consider adding some vertical stiffness to them.
