05-15 acess cab rear door speakers

i couldn't find any threads of any one doing speaker installs on the rear doors to an access cab. i wanted to ass some 6x9 pioneers to the rear doors because my 09 tacoma dosent have and speakers in the back but only my sub looking to see if any one has done this to help get some ideas

 

If you want to ass some 6x9 you'll have to measure the hole first.

That's weird, my 2015 doesn't have speakers on the suicide doors, was this optional?

Toyota moved em after a certain year.

 

Nope no speakers available in the rear door of access cab.

They installed these small transducer assemblies that attempt ( poorly ) to turn the headlinder into a large speaker.

Several threads on the audio & video section. I don’t believe 6x9 will work without cutting a bigger hole.

 

Not sure but for a fact the 2012's did not have speakers in the access cab rear doors.

 

Rear door speaker size is 6.5" on access cabs, only 05-08 came with rear speakers if i remember correctly. You can ether buy 05-08 rear door panels or do a semi recessed set up on your truck. Using you current door panels will require cutting too do a recessed setup. The internal door skins are the smae on all year 2nd gens so there is no cutting of metal if you stick with the 6.5 speakers. Only the door panels will need a hole cut. If you go the recessed route make sure to purchase speakers that come with there own speaker grill. Also you can paint the grills with interior paint to make the install look more factory if you like.

Went this route because I love these speakers.

 

What type of tools do you use to cut the door panel circle to fit a 10inch sub? Also, wouldn’t the sub hit the medal of the door when the suns hit?
