Just purchased a used 2005 2.7L with a 5 speed manual. Truck runs great so far except im a little concerned with how high this thing idles at cold start up....usually about 2000 rpms for a minute or so, then the rpms slowly creep down. Its seems to do it whether its 80 degrees or 40 degrees outside. Once its warmed up everything seems normal, usually idles around 700. I would imagine on a frigid cold morning this wouldn't be to good on the engine. I wasn't sure if this is normal... is this something to be concerned about?

Normal. Computer dumps extra fuel in to heat up the cats faster for lower emissions

Don't be suprised if your clutch is slow to return to a full up position in sub 20 temps

We had a 40 degree morning here and I noticed the clutch didn't grab until almost full up position for the first few shifts. Thanks for the reply, just never had a vehicle idle that high at start up.
