I’m fortunate that my dad gets all kinds of metal free from his work and has a covered shed at home specifically just to store pieces of metal haha I just told him the rough size and he brought out some options for me. I went with stainless so there isn’t any rust behind the light.

It was not very thick. I pretty much cut it to fit back there. All 3 bolts tie together, but the top side one does not. Angle iron would have worked better to do that. It probably doesn’t help a ton, but mentally I feel better about it haha

Oh. I agree and drool over the Total Chaos stuff. The UCAs and LCAs are on my long term wish list.

Here is what I'm talking about:

    InkedScreenshot_20180328-075752_LI.jpg

Those corners are where all the bending load goes. There is hardly any meat on the TC ones. It also looks like it would bend pretty easily if you put a strapped on to that loop going toward the front.

The back plates that attached to the bottom and side of the bed are there on both, but that corner sees more of the load and stress.

A good way to think of it is how easy it is to been a 2x4 that is lying flat (3.5in side down) versus one that is standing on end (1.5in side down).

Anyone recommend these with a rack and RTT? Not sure I "need" these, but you know....better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Just curious if y'all have noticed any separation due to a rack and RTT as opposed to a topper.

But over time it helps from the weight
If you wheel with all the weight in the back

That is mainly why I got mine. Very early pre-planning for a GFC. It was said that toppers / canopies can cause cracking. They are not stiff due to the opening and can spread the load on the end of the bed.

Depending on how stiff the RTT rack is, it could reinforce the bed some esp the lower height ones, but the stiffeners are going to be a lot more effective.

I would say the same it’s not needed but yes over time it will really make a huge difference if you have lots of weight on the back of your truck. Better safe than sorry. If you have any questions let me know.

I only have a leer shell with a prinsu rack, occasionally carry kayaks and lumber- in the market for a RTT. That being said I can feel where the stress line is, there's an obvious divot. I think these are great for anything with any kind of weight on the bed rails.

Will this work with the DECKED system drawers?

It will work with a decked system and not have any interference with the opening or closing of the drawers.
