Some come with them some don't. I drove a Taco on the dealer lot and it had them. They picked me one up in my color choice in a dealer trade and it did not have them. I did the mod. Surely it must be part of some type of package.

how does having these DRLs affect battery life? cause itd be cool if there was a switch we could install in one of the slots by the foglights to turn them on and off when we want.

The drain caused by those small lights is insignificant.

The cost of a factory switch and wiring is about the same as a battery. I think you'd be better off rolling the dice.

This is a factory option; you can rest assured that it won't be pushing the electrical drain over your battery's capability.

DRL mod with switch, rear spring TSB, trans TSB, tailgate mod, snug-top shell.
I installed a switch. See post 181 of this thread.
The lights are only on when the engine is running so the alternator carries the load. I think the impact on the battery is zero.

That was my issue also. But, having had a vehicle pull out in front of me at 55mph in broad daylight because they didn't see me and t-boning them made me a DRL believer.

I just finished this mod on my 2006 TRD Sport DC, and it was super easy thanks to this guide. I got my local dealer to price match and I got the combo of parts for about $55.

Only confusing part was the bottom plug (the one further back in the picture) had a cover on it that was a bit of a pain to get off. I had trouble figuring out that the plug had to come out. Probably just cause I am a little slow. So, anybody doing to mod, there is a gray cap cover the 2nd plug, the one without the flasher in it...

Seen a few taco's around with this mod and always wondered how they did it...now I can't wait to do this myself. Awesome write up!

Thanks very much for the great post and pictures 007, along with the making it look easy breezy to install. My question is if this same install and parts would be applicable in the 2010? Anybody have any thoughts on that?

When I purchased the truck, I didn't want all of the luxury expensive crap on the truck, but I miss having DRL's. they're a must anymore, as like the original poster, I have the same dark color and need them.

    Thanks everyone.

Does anybody know if this mod will affect the Moerse beeper mod? It connects to a light in that area. if you use the emergency flashers it beeps if you do not turn off the beeper.

will your DRLs turn off if you turn on the little amber lights in the corners of the headlight assembly? or is it ONLY when headlights are on. my question is can you run the DRLs and the corner lights at the same time

Yep you can run parking lights and DTRL and the fog lights if youve done the anytime fog light MOD! and when you cut the head lights on the DTRL go out!

I just finished this mod. Great initial write up! Got my parts from www.toyotaworld.com . FYI...When ordering parts DO NOT include VIN number. They shipped me one of the parts using my VIN and I got a part that was Non-DRL. I had to wait 2 weeks for the correct part to arrive. Order with no VIN and you will get what you order. Took about 1 hour and that was long because of having to referee my kids constant fighting! I did not completely remove the lower dash as in the write up. Just freed it up and let it dangle.

Hey, I noticed another plug just behind the toggle switch location...were my factory fogs switch is. Anyone know what that is for? Another free mod? ;)
