Yeah, I caught that link already, but the stock number doesn't match what the dealer says mine is, and not sure it would be equivalent. They don't seem to know either.

I have seriously considered that but having since learned that even the 3rd gens now have service recalls out for the frames was one more outrageous tipping point. I absolutely love my truck, and the thought of going on fighting frame rust on a second Tacoma would be infuriating.

I liked this idea too, but, like I mentioned there, the chances of me finding a 05-08 access cab, manual transmission, V6 Tacoma that *hasn't* been wrecked are incredibly remote. And additionally I just don't have the time to scour 10 states worth of salvage yards (unless you guys know of some find-it service that does this) and then get it hauled up here, take it apart and then re-assemble the thing with my drivetrain and other assorteds with nothing going amiss. It's just not how my luck has been going lately.

Thanks again for your comments, I've always appreciated you guys!

You don’t have to buy another Tacoma. You can get whatever you want. Any dealership will make an offer on your truck. Even if you don’t purchase a vehicle from them

I didn't think that was a serious offer in that letter, but I'll certainly give it a shot if I'll get more out of it there than at a salvage yard! Thanks!

Both the dealer and corporate said they were obsolete/not available but they never said anything about a backorder. Did you get this info from a dealer somewhere? If so, I would love to know which one to inquire with...?

I'd check out this thread. A company called saftcap makes attachments that help with situations like this. Not sure if it'll be enough to help with your situation but it may help to call the company as they haven't posted their 2nd gen stuff yet.

Yes - Thompson toyota in Edgewood Md. Confirmed by cooperate. Corporate will tell you that once the order is placed they will push to have it completed/delivered.
Search a little more on here someone commented with the frame p/n's by year and style on a thread recently.
