I am looking at a 2005 tacoma trd 4x4 with a manual six speed transmission. During the test drive when pushing in the clutch while driving in third or fifth gear the shifter would drop down into neutral. This only happens in third and fifth gear, not in first. No grinding and all shifting is very smooth. Anyone had this problem ? Simple fix or rebuild time? The truck has 85,000 miles on it. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like problems with the shift forks to me. That'll be a rebuild at some point.

Yeah....I don't know the complete gear set up- but mine started kicking the shifter outta reverse....And I ended up with a complete new transmission (under warranty thankfully)
