Sounds great I would start with the engineering drawings of the motor dimension so you can compare all 3 motors. There are some it would just be the issue of finding them. You basically need the center point of all motors and center point of motor mounts tranny mounts, crankshaft centerline and so forth. I would assume they are going to be close or the same since all 3 motors are offered in the tundra. Dimensionally the two V8's may be the same. The difference is probably bore and stroke. However, I have not looked into that. I do know the 5.7 is an all alluminum block and heads where the 4.7 is a cast iron block. So actually the 5.7 may be lighter then the 4.7 this would be to your benefit.

Hey guys, I was trolling the net for info on a V8 swap for a tacoma and came across this thread.
I was interested in if it was possible to drop the tundra engine AND 6spd auto tranny into a tacoma. Well, not drop in, but get it to work, i know there would be quite a bit of fab work to do, but how feasible would it be?
I mean, I see people talk about engine swaps and of course, they then need to worry about mating the tranny to the engine, so I figure why not get the tranny that goes with the engine and worry about mounting it to the frame.

I mean, my dream truck as it stands is a Tacoma crew cab long bed with a V8 engine. A 6spd auto tranny would just be icing on the cake.

I did, the OP hasn't yet dropped in his V8 engine and I've seen the supra engine and LS1 engines in older model tacomas. Cam-Shaft posted some good info that makes it seem very feasible, just wondering if its been done or if you guys who really know your way around the tacoma think it would be a relatively easy swap.

It just doesn't make much sense to try and drop a 350/5.7 litre engine into the tacoma when you can rebuild the stock 4.0 or 4.7 and achieve the HP/TQ using a SC.
By doing this also allows you to keep your diffs and trans along with stock wiring harness. With some moderate mechanical skills and 10k to burn this should be achievable.

if he couldnt get the 5.7 he should try to swap for the new 4.6 which has more hp and torque than the old 4.7

Don't waste your time with a gas engine. Put a diesel in it, you could get 35mpg np if done right.
