Check that one out my friend, actually more helpful than you would think to have a low in lb torque wrench in your toolbox. Most ppl wouldn't even bother but I'm picky, like to follow directions, and have way more trust in a torque wrench than my brain to hand torque calibration lol.

Thanks for the tip. I was actually able to find one with 5-100 range, which will be good since about my valve cover bolts only want a bout 6.

OK I think I've completed the work. The truck runs well.

Issue: my idle rpm seems to have dropped a bit, at least at moments. It used to always get into its groove at pretty much exactly 750rpm, and now it falls a bit below that, maybe to 600 or so. My theory is that I may have inadvertently adjusted the tension on the throttle cable when I moved things around to access my valve cover (I unbolted the cruise control mechanism, which the throttle cable moves into and out of, and just kind of swung it out of the way).

Can I just tighten/loosen the little nuts on the throttle cable (right where it attaches to the throttle body) to adjust this??

Idle speed is controlled by the PCM, it may take it a bit to relearn.

As Dm93 said, it may take 50 miles and some time before the ECM relearns the idle.
Give it a couple days, I bet it clears up.
