I bet head gasket. My sister's 06 4runner just had these symptoms. New head gasket, no more misfire.

Only major problem, no funds. I just put about 2500 for tires, power steering, and few minor things ie oc, plugs, wipers etc.

Thinking of trying blue devil, as a cost effictive method to get a few months or years out of the truck till i can swing other options.

So you did put new spark plugs in the engine? @Gregoryk ?

With the engine idling, look in the overflow reservoir. Have someone occasionally rev the engine. If there are continuous bubbles, it is a head gasket.

Otherwise, vacuum hose leaks, and clogged fuel filter. It's 12 years old for modders' sake.

I saw where someone with a 4Runner had luck with this...

I'm sure it's just a band aid fix though.

New plugs. So it may be a bad plug.
12 years old and almost 193,000 miles on it.
    New frame.

Eta do not think it is a bad plug as it runs smooth after a minute or two.

Check all of the vacuum hoses for splits.

Do the URD fuel pump upgrade.

Oh no. That was a recommendation to do so. Your intank filter is beyond saturated with contaminants.

    Like this crap....

Well no signs of moisture on plug 4 was easy to get out. I swapped no 4 plug and coil with no 6 and re gapped all pulgs to .040 They were .035 to .038.

I did notice that i fogot to bolt down no 2 coil pack when i change out my plugs.

T for spark plugs was 180 in lbs. Wet. I think I did them at 160 in lbs. Last time.

Went for a drive so far no check engine light. And nothing was replaced.

Went for test drive, no check engine light with zero new parts. So now i wait for the light to come back on.

    Hey Gregory-

What's the month-later update on this? Lots of great advice on this thread, but curious what your last fix did, since the last news was that it was working and waiting for light to come back on

Headgasket leak. No signs lasted about another week then I noticed the overflow bubbling. I has to go on one 1200 mile round trip the next day so i tried the blue devil pour and go. For the trip i only lost about 1.5 quarts of fuild from the overflow for 2, 10 hour trips back to back. Has been about aweek since and i have not lost any measurable amount of fuild from the raditior and the overflow is still overfilled. Temp stayed normal for the whole trip and i got 21mpg which i have not gotten for years in this truck.

Hopfully it does not get worse as the truck has ro hold out till after April then i,ll be looking for one of those push pull or drag it in for 5,000 deals.

How much is an 05 with 196k worth?

The Blue Devil Pour and Go you used from 5 years ago has kept the head gasket leak at bay?

My 2005 V6 is showing all the symptoms of a head gasket leak too. Cylinder 4 misfire, rough start for a few seconds, bubbling coolant,etc.. Don't have the funds to replace the gasket, so I've been looking into this same product.

It lasted untill about 3 weeks ago. Was not going to add another bottle.

Local dealer offer 6k for my 05 250,000 miles . I dumped the truck with them. The way I figured it out would cost more than that to keep it on the road. Plus I found a 19 Ranger for a steal

    That's fantastic!
Hopefully I have similar success. Should give me enough time until I have enough money to trade her in for something newer.

Congrats on the Ranger. Looks slick!
