Hello, I just recently bought a 05 tacoma trd sport with 230km on it. Everything was great until I tried to tow my 3500 lb camper and began to overheat. I immediately turned the vehicle off and quit towing. Flushed the rad with water and a prestone rad flush and everything was good again until I towed and began to overheat again. Just recently got my thermostat changed and everything is fine but two days later now my
Rad is low and overflow is already empty. Never notice and leaks under the vehicle, no smoke from exhaust, no coolant smells, no codes. Any ideas? I also have noticed my lower rad hose does not get very warm.

Do a block test, and check your oil on the dipstick, your radiator might just need some cleaning too from the outside

You may, probably, have a blown head gasket.

Sounds like a head gasket...do a combustion test on the radiator..Napa sells the kit as well as other places..About 30 bucks..

If the coolant is low it had to go somewhere. If its not on the ground the head gasket is probably being steam cleaned with it... Hopefully it is not though...

It's possible you didn't get all air out of the cooling system when you worked on it, easy to happen. Top it off again, see what happens.

You could do the block test, just for peace of mind. You could probably rent one if you don't own one.

What engine? I don't know if TRDs are only available with the V6.

How’s the reservoir look? Any water noises in the dash?
