So my 05 tacoma automatic 4x4 is stuck in park and even the emergency release button next to the shifter will not function. So i can't even get it to go into neutral. I have checked the brake lights they all work as they should. Checked over all the fuses. They all appear good. It started right up went into gear, reverse every thing. Then when i stopped for a minute and put it into park now its stuck. any ideas taco heads?

Its stuck on a dirt trail so i can't have a tow truck just come and tow it. I have to fix it or I'm screwed. Its been stuck for a week already and I'm out of ideas. The only thing i can think of is to just force it into neutral and see if it will then go into drive. So i could drive it to the shop. Does anyone know if i will damage it further if i force the gear shifter? Or if that would even work?

Replace Ign 1&2 fuses. There have been instances in here where the fuses looked good but weren't.
Edit: didnt catch the part about bypass not working.

Do the tires roll or move at all when in park?

another way to get it into "neutral" disconnect the driveline from the rear axle, see if someone in your area can help you get it off the trail.

I mean literally remove the driveshaft, the long cylindrical thing that goes from the transfercase or transmission to the rear axle. Should be 4 bolts at each connection and a couple holding the carrier bearing I think.

Here is a pic, there are 4 bolts that hold the driveshaft to the rear axle. Remove these 4 bolts and hang the driveshaft with rope or something, i think they're 14mm. This will disconnect the rear axle from the transmission and allow it to Roll, so someone can pull you out.

What about just forcing it . Brut force? Or disconnect the shifting cable under the truck like the mechanic was talking about .? Woild this work as well? Im just not much of a mechanic most i can do it jumpstart a car usually. Im afraid with a axle I'd make it worse.
