I've "Googled" to no avail. I just need to know if the Second Gen '05 has that "VD"? This unit has the electric clutch. It has refrigerant pressure (charge). We bypassed the relay and the clutch energized and still no pumping action. From what I've read generically if the vehicle has the "VD" then it may not pump till the computer tells it to? Would like to know if this truck came with the VD or not? Thank you in advance. bjr23

No 2nd gen Tacoma's don't have variable displacement compressors, if the clutch is turning and it's not pumping then the compressor is junk.

If the compressor has indeed grenaded and there is metal contamination in the system you must replace the condenser, expansion valve and screen, and flush all the lines and evaporator thoroughly or you will have repeat failure.
In some cases the metal gets into the evaporator and it needs to be replaced too but that doesn't happen too often.

can the expansion valve be accessed thru the firewall? Also Where is the Low side switch Located? All I've found is the High side switch.
