05 toyota tacoma wont stay running.

That is a problem. Full pedal travel down should make full throttle valve open.

 

What did you do to fix that?

 

Didn't hold the pedal down. That was just turning over the key.

Okay did the throttle test tight this time. I does open all the way

 

The pedal is easy to remove and inspect internally.

 

Then disregard my last post. Good. So it leaves it to an engine operational problem.

 

You need to test the voltage.

 

Maybe the fuel pump relay needs swapped out?

 

I see a lot of comments about engines dying or running roughly after having battery ground strap off. I changed spark plugs on mine a few weeks ago. Had the ground strap off. Truck fired right up and ran smooth as glass after reconnecting ground strap. Cable was off a couple of hours, at least. Total time cable is off battery may be an issue.

 

Could my problem be the ecm needs to relearn? Where i diconnect the battery? Any ideas on how to reset it?

 

Leaving the battery disconnected for enough time to have the capacitors bleed down, will reset it. 10-15 minutes is more than enough time.

 

Anyhting I gotta do eith pressing the glass pedal down?

 

Several people have said to check the system voltage, overcharging can cause the issue you are having as well as excessive A/C voltage from the alternator.

EZ to check, disconnect the alternator and see if the truck stays running. IF so, you've found your problem.

To verify, put your DVOM on A/C volts and check between the battery terminals with the engine running and alternator hooked up. You should have Less than .2 volts, ZERO volts is ideal.

IF that's the issue, I'll only charge you half of the 150 bucks the dealership monkeys are charging you

 

Just picked my truck up from the dealer. Misfire in cylinder one.. says due to aftermarket spark plugs, bad ground. Gonna drive it to work tomorrow an see how it goes.

 

Which spark plugs did it have in there?
