I was doing another mod today and while pulling off the panel over my fuse box I noticed this:
    20200126_162341.jpg
    20200126_162352.jpg
I have a blank button plugged into the harness. I believe it's where the traction control switch would normally be. I believe the 05 didn't come with the option to turn it off so its probably nothing. Bit does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks!

Bizarre. Do you have VSC in that truck? I’m too am pretty sure there was no on/off button until 2007/2008.

Toyota often pre-wired the Tacomas for stuff that wasn't actually included on the trim model. Not sure about VSC though. Would be awesome if all you had to do is install a switch for it to work. That sounds too good to be true though.

I had assumed that early 2nd gen taco's don't have traction control. My 2006 doesn't have any buttons for it, and i spin the rear tires in the snow all the time and I've never felt anything kick in to stop me from doing it.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

05-08 2nd gen tacos had VSC as an option (that was rarely chosen). If you do have VSC in those years you also have an electric brake booster (which is only found on the TRD OR 4x4 09+'s)

No I dont think my truck has it.

Yeah wouldn't that be something... I find connections for stuff all over the truck that arent included in my model. I wish I knew what half of them were. I was doing this last mod and I think I found like 4 connections that weren't hooked up to anything.

Funny you mention the brake booster. I've recently been hearing a 1 second buzz as soon as my truck starts rolling. I only hear it after the truck has be sitting for a while and I only hear it once (first thing in the morning or after the truck has been sitting at work for my 10 hrs shift). It only happens after I start rolling. I can let the truck warm up forever and it o ly does it once I start driving. I can feel a slight vibration in the accelerator pedal but that only because my foot is on it as I'm taking off. I was beginning to think it was brake booster. My Chilton's manual has steps to take to test it for operation and airtightness. I did that and everything seems ok. Just not sure what it is. Possibly abs.

The ABS test noise happens after you start the engine and get up to a few MPH in drive or reverse. It sounds like vzzzzzt. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. It only does it 1 time after you start the engine. It's perfectly normal.

    Glad to help.

I’ve driven through Wyoming 1 time in my life. The wind was blowing sideways so hard I thought I had a low tire. It was cold and the van was a rental, so I said, screw it and kept driving. Wyoming is definitely not my dream vacation destination. LOL

Ah man dont let that scare ya away. The wind is isolated to the prairies/plateaus that the main highways run through. Its natures way of hiding the beauty of the rest of the state haha. Once you get off the highways and explore the mountains and history of Wyoming, most people always come back. Anyway, thanks again for your help on this and the door locks!

Deal!! Went to Mazatlan when I was a kid. From what I remember it was a beautiful place! My dad grew up in Mexico and goes down for his school reunions like every year (lucky sob lol).
