Ok i'm scratchin my head on this one. It looks like I have 05 Tundra lower ball joints on my 04 Tacoma. Anyone ever heard of this? I do have 240K on original ball joints with a little bit of play.
Here is what mine look like:
    05 TUNDRA AC Delco 46D2345A Left LBJ.jpg

Here is what i recieved for replacements AC Delco pro's

I don't care to tear it apart and have wrong joints.
    What do your's look like?

Wow, that's the first I've heard of this. They appear very close. Pics I've seen are the second pic.

The top picture has a protective cover. Some trucks have it and some don't. My truck did not it, nor did my oem replacements.

Well tomorrow i'm going to slide under it with digitalmicrometer and measure the joint studs. Take some pictures and really compare them closely.
Might explain why i've gotten 250k miles out of them. They could go alot longer. But i need LCA bushings and steering rack is worn. Planned on rebuildingthe whole front end.

Well I had to know tonight. Rolled under it and measured joint stud and it appears to be the correct diameter threads. Also the the rod end has the same size stud as the tappererd hole. Bolt pattern apears to be the same. Tomorrow i'll find a parts store and compare them.

Since we are on this subject, i will be replacing most everything up front except for shocks, springs and uca's.

I have outer tie rod ends.

What else am I looking to replace besides
Lower ball joints and steering rack?

lower control arm bushings \, lower ball joints (upper ball joints. upper control arm bushings unless the new already in your UCA) Sway bay bushings and P/S rack bushings.

Again, I don't think you have Tundra lbjs, you have OEM Tacoma ball joints with the rare and unexplainably equipped ball joint dust shield things. Apparently those shields were also standards on the Tundra. The 4 bolts would not line up if one attempted to install Tundra lbjs on a Tacoma.

Look at the spacing of the bolts and the casting around the tre hole. They are not interchangeable.

That's what a trip to parts house to compare would confirm. But i think your right. I was digging around a Toyota factory parts websight last night. It did show a different part number for the 04 PreRunner only. Could just be the shield.

You have factory Tacoma ball joints with protective cover, just like my 2004 Tacoma. When you replacing them , save the protective rubber for the new ball joints.

Inner tie rods, sway bar links. I know oem lower ball joints is the right way to go, but in case you decide to use aftermarket lower ball joints, use oem bolts with blue loctite. they cost 2.00 each.

Mine had the covers. Dealer techs did not reuse them. You can order the boot separately though
