Anyone replace these on a prerunner. Mine has a 175000 miles on it and i know i gotta start giving her some more love. Would be awesome too do it while still in the truck but if not, it is what it is. I just purchased and installed a set of falken at3w (p rated i believe) in 265/70r17. Truck still grabs the lines and imperfections on the highway but not as bad as before, (its like a wobble feeling) also has less vibrations and steering wheel shaking calmed down a bit. Im think the bushings might be a good start to a rebuilt front end. Just looking for some feedback.

Don't be an idiot like me and draw the alignment mark on the rubber boot of the steering rack. It can rotate.

You can just use the regular steering lock, or feed a seat belt through it, or go nuts and use tie down straps.

Really the main reason to lock it down is so it doesn't just spin free like crazy and break your clock spring. I just turned it so all the bolts were accessible on the intermediate shaft, then locked it down.

I had to replace my rack, so I had it out. I don't even think it's possible with the rack in. If it is I'd imagine it's a HUGE pita. It's a pita even with the rack out.

Well started the job today got the rack out then called it a night.... wasn't too bad the hardest part was unbolting the power steering pressure lines couldn't get a good angle... will install new bushings tomorrow with new tie rod ends and sway bar bushings... will keep updated

Well jobs done!! rack went back in easy! i was just a spline off so my wheel was not center i took the sliding yoke back off and recenterd it now everything is all bolted up with fresh power steering.... my only issue right now is it looks like my toe is the little bit off from the tie rod change so im gonna either do a drive way toe and go or head to the shop...

Regarding the 2nd generation's steering rack mounting bolts:

The longer bolt has Toyota P/N 90119-A0135 and an overall length of about 167mm.
The shorter bolt has P/N 90119-A0137 and an overall length of about 141mm.

Both bolts have the same diameter, washer, and threaded length.

The longer one fit my 4.0L 4x4.

    Here’s a tip

If you mess up the bushing casing where it won’t pop out. Take out the other side, use a 15mm socket and a big fn hammer to knock it out.

If that doesn’t work or both are messed up get a hole saw and make a cut all the way through the casing, then use a flat head to pry it up till it comes loose on both ends.
