Leveling kit, wheel spacers, personally fabricated modified frame, and some sweet diamond plate to cover up a smashed driver side! Because I was stupid
I’ve read about actuator issues 4x4 not engaging and how to fix it. Well I was going on a hunting trip and I needed to have 4x4 just in case right then. I won’t go into everything I did trying to resolve the issue beforehand, I’ll tell you how I bypassed the electrical components.
I removed the transfer case actuator cover, removed the gear that is controlled by the motor. I drilled a hole in the cover big enough for a socket to fit through. I welded the socket to the shaft that turns the gear in the transfer case from 2wd to 4wd to 4lo, replaced the cover.
For the front actuator I repeated the same steps except I welded a rod that I could bend to act like a lever so that I could rotate locking the hubs in.
I was at a loss and needed to fix the problem, believe it or not it worked! I wouldn’t recommend anyone doing this but for those that are brave enough or broke enough it’s a quick fix. Also you’ll need to remove the clear cover on the instrument panel and cover the blinking 4x4 light unless you don’t mind the blinking light. If you are brave enough to try this and don’t mind laying under the truck to engage 4x4 it works, you could tear something up so I’m not telling anyone to do it! I’m just telling you what I did!
