I really hate to make such an vague thread, but I am really struggling with this.
My 06 Tacoma Prerunner auto has 85k on it and feels like it is lacking power, stays in gear longer then it should, has a "laggy throttle response" incredibly awful gas mileage.

I recently changed the Primary filter and removed the secondary filter.
    Current oil is good.
Drained the tranny and refilled using OEM tranny fluid. because sometime it feels like it is shifting rough.

    Currently has original plugs.
I am going to change them on Saturday.

I have had the TSB done for the throttle and was thinking it may have been the reflash.

If I can figure it out I will pay the 100 bucks and have Toyota diag it. I am still covered under the factory warranty. with Drifting season coming I need to know the truck is good. Thanks guys.

and it is not showing any codes currently , however it did throw a code a few months ago and it never came back on. I have since replaced the battery and have not see the code since.

Do the plugs. My buddy with 90k on his 08 Taco put in new plugs and he said it made a world of difference with power, response, and MPG's.

If I remember right, the original plugs are 30k mile plugs. I agree, start there, throw a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in it, and see what happens.

I'd do Seafoam. Did it on my buddies old 4Runner and it really made it smooth out.

Will do on the plugs. I am hesitant of doing anything with the MAF. I ruined a few when my supra was NA. Is it safe to clean them?

Plugs, throttle body cleaning, are a good place to start.

Some of this Some of that
Just an observation... I know tps sensors have been known to cause weird transmission shifts and hesitation. The plugs definitely will matter tho. I believe you can check the tps with an ohmmeter Just because

ive got 185,000kms (approx 115000 miles) on my 08 and was noticing the same problems you described. i too was running the original plugs. i had them changed on tuesday and it made a big difference with my mileage and throttle response.

unfortunatly the transmission issues are still there. ive had mine flushed a few times now and had the computer reflashed 4 times in the last few years thinking that might solve the problem. nothing fixed yet and to top it off my mechanic and the toyota dealer i use cant figure it out.

I just had my tranny replaced and while it was in they said they were gonna fix the gas peddle for the recall issue they had.. Anyways I noticed the same thing seems to not accelerate as fast when I go to pass people. Interested to know if changing the plugs does the trick or if it is actually the pedal recall

Should not be needed unless he's running a K&N filter.

    They also reflash the ECU.
Throttle over either 25% or 33% (I don't recall) and hit the brakes, the engine shuts down to idle so even if your floor mat gets the circumcised pedal stuck, it'll still stop.

I've never cleaned a MAF and never had any reason to.
Cleaned the TBI on my '03 Tundra... didn't make a difference except it idled high for a few days (expected).

On the flip side, every couple of months, we get someone posting about problems getting their truck to run right, or even start, after cleaning their MAF and TBI.

If there's a problem with the MAF that's serious enough to warrant cleaning, you're probably going to have a latent code, if not an outright check engine light. It's a part of the emissions system and the EPA isn't happy when it's not working properly.
It's one of those things that's best left alone unless troubleshooting points to it.

In this case, his plugs are about triple their recommended change interval ;)
