06 tacoma making a loud heavy grinding noise.

I have a 2006 tacoma and i recently had tbe driveshaft replaced on it. About 2 weeks after i replaced it instarted hearing a loud noise. It sounds like its coming from where yhe real wheels are and its like a loud tock tock tock noise. It does it when coming to a stop, coasting at low speeds or when i begin to accelerate from a dead stop. Any ideas?

 

U-joints, could be they damaged one with the work you had done, or anew one damages on install

 

I would take it back to where you had the drvshft replaced and have them fix it.

Sounds like they installed wrong.

 

I took it back yesterday and the mechanic wasnt in the shop so wanted to post about it today. Just wondering if it may be somthing else. The best way i can describe it is that it soubds like a wheel of fortune before it comes to a stop. The loud click it makes. It gets louder the lower speed i go.

 

Sounds like they messed up one of the u-joints.
