Rebuilding the rear locking differential on the truck and overtorqued the pinion nut with a impact gun and when measured preload it was 24 in. lbs (spec is 11-16 in lbs). I backed it off and now got 15. How bad is it if I left it now that I backed it off? Would there still be enough tension on the sleeve between the two bearing? I know they say crush sleeve is only tightened little by little but it’s only a few in. lbs which is almost nothing, would it cause any significant damage?

It can cause problems, if its not back together I would just replace it, then torque it correctly. If it's already back together I would keep an eye on it but have the spare around for if(when) it fails.
