    hi. 2006 v6 4x4 167000 miles

squeaking "eek eek eek" front passenger side unless brakes are applied.

engaging 4x4 doesnt change it so i dont think its cv or front diff needle bearing related.

i took off the wheel spped sensor and put in 30 pumps of grease (something ive learned prolongs non-serviceable wheel bearings as an access point for greasing bearings and no the grease doesnt affect the magnet) with zero change so i dont think its wheel bearing related plus there is no movement in the wheel while raised in the air.

that leaves the wear indicator tang on the pads but they have 80% on them.

the closest thing ive read to my situation and the fix is on gbe forunner forum and it was a sticking caliper piston not retracting.

here is thread: do we have any precident in our tacos for this?

Warped rotar? Had that on a 2008 Ranger. Turning them fixed it. But it was so bad that i could feel the brake pedal modulate. If a high spot on the pads, try slamming on the brakes hard, very hard a few times at around 60 mph

I get no movement or pulsing on breaking hard or soft from fast or slow. Brakes function perfectly.

I should probably pull the pads off and do an inspection. It might be obvious after that

Maybe brake dust. What if u wash the area then drive see if it goes away. They do make brakes that gives little to no brake dust.

I'd clean the pins that attach the brake pads to the caliper first. You could have mud, sand, brake dust, rust, or even a small little pebble hiding between the caliper, pad and pins. Just enough junk to make the pad sit against the rotor lightly and cause the squealing. Might sound stupid but it's the first place id look.

Or the sliders might be sticking. May need to remove them add astro glide, to allow them to slide better.

and the slider pins are completely corroded and rusted so I can't see how anything is sliding on it. I have to hammer at it to get it out

Spray some pb blaster, liquid wrench or wd40 on them and let them soak a bit before giving them the hammer. You just need something to help break up the crud.

got them off, missing the top "spreader" spring and the retainer clip thingy. the bottom "spreader" spring was present.

the entire setup was corroded really bad.

i cleaned it up and ran the slider pins under the bench grinder with the brass brush on it. took all the corrosion off.

had cotter pins in my grandfathers old parts case!

    squeek squeek squeek is gone!

ill see if i can find a "spreader" spring somewhere. (?)

There are no "sliders" in this case. It's a fixed four piston caliper.
