Hello, I have a problem where I went to reverse and then try to shift into first. It somehow got stuck in reverse gear but shifter is in the neutral position. I can’t shift into anything currently and it’s stuck in reverse.

    SOLVED solution below

The lever has a rubber epoxy inside to reduce vibration. It’s common for the rubber to deteriorate causing some slop. Has the lever felt sloppy and vague lately?

    *SOLUTION FOUND* ANSWER BELOW ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️

Hey guys found the solution, take off the reverse switch grab a mirror if the reverse indicator is directly in the middle of the hole grab a flathead screw driver, put it on the left side of the lever and pry forward to get it off center and back into neutral position. Then you should hear a click when in neutral and put reverse switch back on. Then check the shifter if it goes in all the gears and my did.

once I did that, I was able to go thru all 6 gears with no issues and reverse. I have a short shifter as well. I have rebuilt the shifter 2 years ago and bushing looks great still.
