    Hey guys!

Much help would be appreciated. I’m trying to decide on a 2007 or 2010 Tundra.

    2007
    93,500 miles for $16,997
    5.7L SR5 TRD
cloth seats w/ front beach seat
    Medal front and rear bumpers
    Medal running boards

    2010
    96,000 miles for $19,500
    4.6L SR5
Leather seats w/ front bench seats
No running boards and stock bumpers
    Matching shell

Why the 2010 4.6L over a 5.7L or is that not the reason?

Choosing the 4.6 is foolish because you will get same economy with less power. Plus you can boost the 5.7 with a TRD kit if you want to.

He asked my reason and I gave it

Personally I would buy neither , as my Tundra of choice is 5.7 4WD 8 feet bed, bench front.

Compare the mileage numbers between the 5.7L and the 4.6L if you don’t plan to tow, or just buy the 5.7 if you do.

You won’t be able to wipe the $hit-eating grin off your face for a while if you make the right choice.

Would/do you guys get a vehicle inspected by another mechanic before buying used or is that something not to worry about with Tundras at this mileage? They both drove fine. Loved the power behind the 5.7. There was white smoke that had a burning smell to it when I first started it but then went away after a few seconds. Maybe some spilt oil on the exhaust manifold or something?

I’d take it to a mechanic and let them do a compression test and maybe even camera scope inside the cylinders.

I’ve been taking the trucks I’ve been interested in to a mechanic I know and trust but this would be a 40 minute drive one way to do that. Guess it’s worth it when buying a used truck
