I'm considering swapping out my 4.0l six for a 06-07 vvti 4.7l V8. I understand the 06 Tundra went from a 5 speed manual to a 6 speed manual with the 4.7l vvti that year.

Although they are very similar to the first gen tundra, I know these trucks are not the same size and, do not share the same chassis.

Question; Is this swap doable today? I know it was done for a SEMA show. Will the 06 Tundra 4.7 vvti and 6 speed manual mount without difficulty in my 07 Tacoma TRD Sport? I understand that a new ECU, accessories and exhaust will be required.

I would appreciate positive advise on this.

Wow I could use the same answer... sucked water through the intake bent a connecting rod probably a valve too.. thought if I'm gonna tear into it.. what if I just picked up a 4.7 and through it in...to bad no help.. seems a rare build.

the 4-runners of similar vintage came with V8's as an option (sorry, I don't know what size they were). Doesn't that have a similar frame setup as the Tacoma?

Yea from the sounds of it a lot of people either recommend the 4Runner or Lexus 4.7.. too bad I haven't came across a complete build yet.. you'd think more people would have turned that rad little taco into a v8

Well the v8 isn't much more powerful, it's considerably heavier and less fuel efficient. The op is wrong in saying the tundra had a manual transmission as well.

Yea I read the v8 only comes in auto.. which means you have to trick the obII to accept the manual transmission.. so bottom line a bent a connecting rod and maybe a valve not for sure yet haven't torn it apart but was thinking would it be more cost effective to just swap out with another v6? It's an 08'taco and I'd have to pay for the work to get done being I'm at a shortage with tools. Got water in through the intake.. apparently I didn't mod/water seal it.
