    Hello everyone friend of mine has a 2007 Tacoma v6 can a inline 4 from same gen be swapped in and if any fab work has to be done ?

    Not just a swap of engines, you will need the ECU, and a few other things

    Can it be done. Yes.
    Would it be feasable/cost effective. Probably not.


    At a minimum along with the engine you would need to swap:

    PCM
    Engine and transmission wiring harness
    Transmission
    Exhaust system

    Not sure why you would want to go from a V6 to the 4 cyl, most people want to do the opposite.
    I believe the 2.7L costs almost as much if not more the 4.0L in the used engine market.
