I have a 07 tacoma 6 spd, recently did a leaf sas on it. I understand I'm an idiot and forgot to disconnect the battery but did manage to unhook the alt ground. After sitting in the garage almost 3 months for the swap, the truck won't start, radio works power windows work dash lights all there, I hit the key and nothing, no clicking at all. Did I fry my battery? Thanks for any help and yes clutch was pushed in all the way.

What is a leaf SAS...is that a leaf spring replacement? Why don't you charge your batteries and check your battery cables and connections. It sounds like a corroded terminal.

yeah charging the battery would be the first step. Check the battery cables where they connect to the battery to be sure they look ok (not corroded or loose). The battery could just also be shot from sitting so long.

    none yet
I'd suggest take the battery to an auto part store to get it tested so you can rule it out right away. Sitting Three months in the garage may be long enough to drain most of the juice in the battery already.

Not only sitting, but welding. I think I may have fried it but have not had any problems welding on it in the past. I just got off work so I'm heading to throw the charger on. I must say it's the stock oem battery too, lasting 7 years without trouble is awesome until now lol, thanks for the responses.

IF not the battery - try smacking the starter solenoid with a hammer .

The entire truck was stick welded so don't bash me too much lol, I've been doin so since I was 12, and was a fabricator until I was layed off 4 years ago, now I'm a tree guy. Anyways the starter was replaced last year and the initial reading on the charger was 50%, terminals are clean and cables in good shape.

All the fuses and fusible links good?any dash light when you turn the key? You should get various indicator lights when in the ON position, but not started.

Have you checked for codes? Does the truck have the immobilizer, does that blink when the truck is off?

Those should be easy to check, and may indicate whether you're looking at a computer, or something less expensive.

You possibly fried some electronics like the ECU. Disconnecting the alternator ground only removes the alternator from the starting/charging circuit and doesn't block any current sent through the chassis by a stick welder. That's why rule #1 for welding on vehicles is to disconnect the battery, because that's what breaks the circuit and un-grounds the chassis.

Does the starter click or make any noise when you turn the ignition?? If so try to hit the solenoid as I said previously.

Is the Starter stuck engaged?? Put it in gear and try to rock it (manually) back and forth to see of the starter releases returns.

Dead spot on the Starter?? And . or bad solenoid. Can you check to see if you get 12v to the starter solenoid when the key is turned??

Any chance you have chip in your key and/ or try other keys if so.
