I have an 08 PreRunner D-cab 4.0L with 73,000 miles on it. Mobil 1 oil changes every 5,000 miles and some Lucas injector cleaner maybe every 5 or 6 gas fill ups. I have never done spark plugs / wires, or had the auto tranny serviced. It is still running like new. I'm figuring at 100,000 miles I will most likely have these service items taken care of.

Is anyone else waiting until 100,000 miles for these items to be addressed?

Change your plugs. There are no spark plug wires on the 2nd Gen V6. They use COP - coil on plug. You replace these when a related code is thrown. You might want to look at your air filter. I could recommend other services, but I'm sure others will follow with their ideas.

It's very important for you to replace the points and condenser before 100k miles. Be sure to set the dwell correctly!

I forgot to mention that I do replace the air filter about every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

have the trans serviced or do it yourself, just to keep things fresh and tidy.

just did mine for the first time last Friday, @ 261k, surprisingly clean and the fluid was dark ( expected ) but still had a red color to it, not burnt smelling at all.
pulled the pan, replaced the screen just to be sure, it was clean as well, very little residue in the pan, minor metal accumulation on the magnets in the pan.

Yes I did say 261,000 miles, I bought the truck last summer late with 255k on it, was a fleet vehicle, knew the guy who drove it, oil changes every 5k with Valvoline synthetic 5w30, all regular maintenance done, some by dealer, some by driver, Dealer recommended against trans service the whole time he had the vehicle.
I did it because its mine and I can. Valvoline Max Life DexMerc ( WS compatible ) drives well, seems to shift a bit better, haven't had and real warm days yet to see if trans temps are any better or worse ( Scan Guage )

    YMMV

    don't take any wooden nickels
