Greetings, I have a 2008 Tacoma pre runner sr5 v6 and I have the factory rear locking diff. I was first confused because I thought only trd models had the locking diff but I looked up the vin, come to find out it doesn’t have the trd package but only has the factory v6 towing option. But it also has the upgraded suspension and skid plate..

Does anyone know if normal 2008 prerunner sr5 tacos had locking diffs or is mine aftermarket? The switch and everything else looks factory but doesn’t show up when I search up the vin.

The factory locking diff is exclusive to TRD OffRoad models so either you have a TRD Offroad or someone added it.

Do you have pics of your rear diff?

We will be able to tell just by the button if it is or not. I have never heard of a sr5 with a factory locker…..

    No you won’t.
They could have used a factory button in the correct location.

The same shit everyone else has.
No factory elocker on anything other than an TRD OR.

If it’s a Toyota elocker, it’s either a debadged TRD OR or someone added it.

Another TRD OR debadger here. I don't like stickers. It does happen.

Apologies for the late response, I have send pictures above (I sent them more than once on accident) but I noticed it also had the Toyota Bilstein shocks that come in the trd off-road. The only confusion is that the vin shows only the towing package and not the trd package.

Yeah that’s why I’m confused.. I’ll post a screenshot but I looked up the vin on the Toyota website and it doesn’t say anything about the locker but all the wiring and the actuator look just as old as the rest.

Toyota changed their detailed specifications a few years ago.
You need some one to pull an in depth report.

Different. You need someone with access to Toyota TIS.
You can signup for a 2 membership for $25
It's only worth it if you save all the service data you while you have access.
Not sure it's worth $25 just to find out if you have an Off-Road or not.

I should note, the membership also shows all the TSB and recalls the truck has had done to it.

So maybe it is worth it to you?
