Help> 2008 Tacoma, 6 cyl. 6 speed. pre runner. I turned off truck and locked it up. Came back and it won't start. Everything works, light, A/C, heater, etc. When I get it rolling, and pop the clutch it starts and runs just fine. Any ideas why it won't start? Thanks in advance. Robert.

My buddy's jeep did this when he accidentally hit the key with it in the cylinder. It ended up just being the ignition fuze. So if you have a multimeter go test ALL the fuses. That would be where is start, it is also the cheapest place to start lol. Let me know if that works or if you need some help testing fuses and such.

2008 tacoma won't start. Figured out the problem. I have to push or stomp on the clutch very, very hard as in overkill. It starts if I grab the steering wheel and push down with extremely hard pressure. A woman probably could not do it. So......can I put in a OEM clutch bypass switch, like on 4 x 4s. I am the only one that drives the vehicle. My 95 Nissan has had a push button switch on the dash since day one. It actually is a thief deterrent. What would the procedure be to install a rocker or push button to allow the truck to start instead of pushing the clutch. Thanks............

Yeah I guess that the bypass would work. Just don't leave it in gear lol.

I wouldn't even have a push button though. I am all for factory integration so the less aftermarket buttons the better. Just bypass it and call it a day. I will look into the actual procedure if it has not already been done on here and if it has I will send you link.

Thanks for all your input. I would take your suggestion and just bypass the clutch. I would appreciate the procedure or link. Thanks Again..........Robert

Is'nt it possible to just adjust the switch that is activated by the engagement of the clutch? One of my trucks just had a threaded rod to the clutch switch.

crawl under the truck and with it in neutral and ebrake on with someone pushing the clutch, take a screw drive and touch the ground and positive ends together on the starter real fast it should spin over if its working, if it does not spin over its a bad starter....one of the best sayings in the mechanic world "keep it simple stupid" not ever problem is a long indepth thing
