New Member to the site I’m having issues with my 2008 Tacoma v6. It started a couple months ago while driving I shut it off came back 10 minutes later it wouldn’t start it would only crank over then the next day it would start right up like nothing was wrong. This went on for a few weeks I tried a new fuel pump solenoid bought a new fuel pump from Amazon it didn’t fix it ,tried a new electronic gas pedal didn’t fix it ,took it to our local shop (not a dealer) they check it out plugs were black said the throttle body assembly needed to be replaced ,they put a new one on still wouldn’t run after a couple more weeks he said he thought the crank sensor was shot and it was gonna be a big job ( like 4-5 hours ) so I said I would do it towed it home installed the crank sensor still no idle it will keep running if you feather the throttle above 2500 rpm but if you let off it will die called my friend at the shop told him that didn’t fix it code p0113 popped up he told me then it must be the computer or something in the wiring so I ordered a used one installed it still no idle I am compleatly stumped any help would be greatly appreciated thank you..

Did you check for vacuum leaks?

Not sure specifically on 08, but IAC and idle is highly sensitive and typically the hardest for any ECM to gain stoich values. If you put a new throttle body on then you more than likely changed the IAC along with it unless it was separate in 08. Most likely it sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Check for dry rotted hoses, also spraying carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner to check and find vacuum leaks. You will probably need a helper for this though. Google has many videos on how to do this.

Your friend (or the shop), probably meant well.
I’d like to know how they came to the conclusion the Throttle Body was bad based on the plug color.
Unless you went with an OEM fuel pump from Amazon (do they sell OEM?) You probably aren’t any better off. I’m not see how a pedal assembly would cause the issue your describing.
The Crank Sensor could have been an issue. Since you replace, now we know it wasn’t.

First thing I do is not ask the Friend or Shop for advice.
You can still be friends, just get a different friend or shop to help you.
Throwing parts at it until “something works” is time consuming and expensive.

P0113 is Intake Air Sensor Voltage
I searched Google and found the following.

To add to the potential issues, If you unplug the battery it resets the fuel mapping and has to "relearn" to get it to idle correctly. Might not be the issues but I wanted to throw that out there.

Holy shit stop throwing parts at it! That shop has no clue what they are doing, they need to start with diagnosis.

Thank you for the quick response. I didn’t see any vacuum leaks .in the beginning the mechanic retrieved a few codes that told him there was a problem with the throttle body that was why he replaced it ,it didn’t fix the problem so he put my part back on he then tried the gas peddle that also didn’t fix it so he put my foot peddle back on, he then erased the codes let it sit over night then did the idle relearn started it ran the same way so he guessed it was the crank trigger so I replaced that still didn’t fix it, then code p0113 popped up he admitted he was stumped and said it was probably the computer so I got one it also didn’t fix it so tomorrow I will check again for vacuum leaks thank you for all the help

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
How many miles on the spark plugs?

There is no IAC Valve or actuator, all controlled via the ECU and Throttle Motor and Throttle position sensor.

    MAF Sensor or vacuum leak.

Okay I've seen the P0113 code before, but I don't remember what the heck it is. OP needs to do us the favor of being very transparent by telling us what that code description was so we can assist him easier.

From a quick search it appears it is a intake air temp fault. Built into mass air flow sensor?
MAF's tend to get dirty and need to be cleaned sometimes. Not saying that is the problem
but is easy enough to check it. Should also state that if you decide to
clkean it ONLY USE MAF cleaner or you will most likely ruin it.

Any chance it could be the Immobilizer?
