What you experienced is not unusual. Has nothing to do with spark plugs, battery hooked up wrong, or anything else.
What you did was an ecu reset. The vehicle now has a default starting point. It needs to learn the vehicle. So the hard start is not unusual. It just needs to be recognize.
So I will say once it runs for 15 min and driven you won't have another issue.
HOWEVER this also is a real good indication your throttle body maybe dirty. A dirty t/body will not flow air at idle in the capacity the base idle is programmed for. So now it is learning while running its base settings.
Just something to think about. Congrats on your wheel bearing change..

True, I forgot she had reset her ECU when she disconnected the battery. When I did that to reset a code once, my truck had a rough start and low idle as well but was good to go after that. It didn't have trouble cranking but I guess it's a little different for everyone.

Was just thinking that while reading this thread. R&I the air tube to throttle body
and check if it looks dirty around the throttle plate, if so grab some throttle body cleaner
and a rag and clean around the plate in there.

Yup and once reconnected you need to turn the key to on for 20 seconds to allow it to recalibrate. Start the thing first and it won't turn over. First time I did a disconnect I thought I screwed it up until I read a post from another tacomaworld user about it.

Cranking will be slightly extended, but not to the extent where she described, at worst it would start, then die immediately after start up, but in her case she has something else going on, which is why I am curious as to what year she has and whether or not she has the I4 or V6 version of that gen Taco.

Yes, it's about time for new plugs and yes copper, I'll agree with that. Blue has almost 160,000 miles, it is driven 120 miles a day 4 days a week.
Took it out driving, idle is rough, usually settles down to normal in a few days, noticed that the last couple of times when disconnecting the battery. Nothing new there. Having to give gas to start it was new. New passenger side bearing also fix the loud humming noise it has had since the day it was bought. Not normal road noise from the tires either. It was a loud have to scream at the passenger noise.

Thanks for ya'lls in put, much appreciated.

Respectfully speaking I have to disagree. I like you work on vehicles all the time (if that is your profession as well) and I do not encounter a long duration crank without there being an impending issue, not just a zero reset ECM condition.

thanks mike i've been doing body and paint work for 30 years but never you know specialized in any certain vehicle brand. as we almost always disconnect the battery prior to working on the vehicle especially if welding i wondered why toyotas had that response. hey i'm old but still nice to learn something. i guess with 40 years in you ought to be able to teach me something. ha ha

Depends what year the truck is. If it is 2nd gen, without a doubt in my mind I am going to say lack of fuel pressure build up in the fuel lines and rails due to the fuel pump. That's an early sign the pump is on it's way out. The OE pump can't handle the fuel pressure spec it is supposed to be at even in NA form, if it is supercharged, forget about it. It's only a matter of time.

This is also why you get a lot of pinging and knocking on acceleration. Dealer TSB reflash for it or not.

@Rhoni T and @CVYota I have never posted this before, but here is an OE fuel pump outside of the OE bucket. This thing is ridiculously tiny. No larger than a BIC lighter. It's thickness wide speaking is not much more either. And we expect this thing to able to supply and maintain proper pressure to power our trucks?
    Brand: Denso

    Measurements (roughly)
    Length: 2.75"
    Width: 1.50"

    OE fuel pressure demand spec:
    41-43 PSI

Since you have no positive or constructive input whatsoever, I'll pretty much count you as invalid.

No quote on quote "STAND" is being taken here. Just attempting to get to the bottom of this without trolls like yourself interjecting. Do you have any idea how these truck's function when cranking? If you do not, then I suggest you shut your mouth and let civilized people carry a decent conversation, debate, or whatever you may want to call it.

Let's move forward without the BS shall we?
