Just be careful once the switch. Is connected the ends are fragile and will snap off if you are not carefull

Rear camera anytime switch, 4x4 Illuminated Switch (from rcbs204) , rear view mirror lift bracket (from ImMrYo), 75 cent tailgate anti-theft. Technically not mods but give me a break I'm trying to fill space here... OEM Leather pkg, keyless unlock & ACC chime silence, BakFlip G2, Ultra Gauge EM, WeatherTech floor mats, OEM roof rack
There is a 5 minute timeout on the screen in the mirror. At least, for the screens that are for the camera ONLY. The newer ones seem to have the little mirror screen on all the time anyway, for the temp and compass display.

Just finished it up this weekend!!! Super easy!!

    Tips
    1) If you solder the wires together in the truck (no crimp) don’t mount the top mounting tabs
    2) RadioShack makes a STDP locking push button that would be awesome!! I will probably be switching to it later!
    3) A little silicone works wonders if you melt off one of the top mounting tabs and the cover won’t stay on very long! lol

Yeah I need to clean my mirror now lol

    Just completed this. THANKS!!
I routed the switch to a blank plate between the A-Trac and Aux plug.
Your instructions were perfect and completely idiot proof, as I just proved:D
    Cheers

I carry my dirt bike on a hitch rack quite a bit. It's nice to be able to see that all is well after I hit a bit dip in the road or something...

Also, It's nice to have the rear view if you're moving backward but not in reverse. Like if you're turning around on a narrow dirt road and using the bank, gravity, and your clutch to go backward instead of reverse.

I love the mod! Very useful !

I did this mod to my 2010 Tacoma. Wiring is the same. However, my mirror turns off after like 5-10 minutes from switching on. A quick normal mode back to always on fixes that. That's a tight squeeze with that switch. I ended up having to drill the main 1/4" hole and support hole on the passenger side of the molding to regain some clearance.

Things I should add from doing this mod.

    1. If you're going to solder the connections, do it before starting to connect the switch to the wires unless you'd like an endurance workout.

    2. Strip your wires first before starting to splice them... it's a tight space for wire strippers let alone needle nose pliers w/ strippers built-in.

    3. Make extensions if you can. You have but one wiring harness. The wires are very thin but sturdy. Strip the ends and add extra wire in case you mess up. If you're going to be using quick disconnect/connect connectors. Use insulated (meaning there is plastic covering the connector (if you're not going to be using electrical tape or heat shrink tubing)) connectors with the female side on the 12+ provider side. That way if for some reason it disconnects, you're safe from a short, etc...

    Thanks for the write up.

My 2014 has the camera in the center console using the Entune screen. Anyone open this up to see if the wiring is the same?
