    Hi Everybody -

just wanted to know if anybody installed oem 09 rear view camera unit into 05-08 tacoma?

I know about the aftermarket options but I just was curious with oem route....or its just too expensive.

    thanks for any inputs....

shoot man, w/ all this 09 modding, you might end up cheaper just buying an 09!

to answer your question, i believe that some did a writeup on adding it to an 05-08..but i could be wrong. really all you would need is the camera, wiring and the special rear view mirror. i think someone hooked up the 09 camera to his HU as well...search around here, TN, and XR-U.

I think what's going to be expensive and hard is if you wanted the actual camera that is made into the tailgate of the 2009s.

The mirror with the monitor is made by a company for toyota and you can buy em online but they aren't exactly like the OEM ones. They're $350-$400.

The hard part would be taking apart the tailgate and handle and trying to install the camera and then running it out of the tailgate, through the hinge, and up into the cab.

Do you want the function or are you trying to make your truck look like it is an '09 through and through? Because that's going to end up being impossible.

There are certain items that I like to have and it happens to be on the 09 ie headlights, taillights and rear view camera.

I agree it might cost to much to make it look like oem so I probably get avic and add aftermarket camera to get the function.

    thanks
