I am looking into purchasing an 09. I will have to have the truck shipped here so I will not be able to inspect it before hand. Are there many issues with 09 and rust on the frame. This truck has not been in a real snowy area but there is still some rust on it. What are your thoughts.

In the second pic, is that a crack that travels vertically on the frame?

5 years tops on that frame

it already has rust through in spots first pic middle

not snowy but it has hit some chemicals

salt from dust control ? been on the beach ? near the ocean ?
    near a fertilizer plant ?

looks like much older than 2009

Are these frames rusting through from the inside out?

Holy crap. Waiting for the 2010 rust threads to show up now :( and the CRC still only covers 05-08, correct?

I'd run not walk unless they replace the frame. That is scary - not safe. Even if they did replace the frame I'd treat it every year. Toyota does not buy good frames period.

I would stay away, it's not super bad now but it will keep getting worse.

Even the floor is about to have a rust through by the plug.

    Find another Taco.

I actually read somewhere that the 09's were the most troublesome Tacoma. I wouldn't worry to much though.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
yes it rusts from inside, so if that is outside, than inside looks 100 times worse, If I were you I would look for something else.
On the side note, the theory that Toyota changed frame process for 2009 trucks is now blown through window. So as I said many times, 2009+ trucks are o nthe same boat, except there is no frame replacement for them.
