'09 Gear Lube 75w-85 Syn

Ok, I searched and only found 3 threades that touched upon this topic. I didn't know that my '09 comes stock, or specs for, 75w-85 syn GL-5 Hypoid Gear lube in the F&R diffs. They had a TSB out on the FJ's and 4runner for this. Guess it's supposed to help with FUEL ECONOMY. They don't say anything about running it in the T-case. Which IMO, wouldn't hurt either. Has anyone bought this stuff for a change out? Spec sheet with visc? If I was running Big tires and such I'd move toward the Valvoline Synpower 75-90. Which is a very light weight vs others like M1 and RP, but is GL-5 and mack approved.

 

Update. Toyota lists the non-LSD syn 75w-85 Gear Oil for $31.28/1 Liter I believe. I can get it through a discount toyota house for $23.50/Lt. That is just stupid expensive. Who the heck is making this stuff for them.

 

You could, but ill would wait till warrenty goes out before switching over. Hate to make a change and something happens, now your screwed.

 

That's a good point. But I do need to change the rear diff out...and probably the front. So if I do any changes I have to pay for the Fancy Toyota stuff. Great. I'm all about the MPG gains and Syn properties of it... but dam. $23.50/Litre.

In my '09, I run Red Line

$30 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75W-90 in both diffs, and MT-90 in the transfer case as well as the transmission. Red Line told me you could run either one in the tranfer case, but they recommmend the MT-90.
