The steel brake line that travels (I think) from engine compartment to the rear of my truck have rusted open. What will a Toyota service dept. have to do to replace them? Will the bed and the cab have to be lifted?

I haven’t looked hard, but I believe they run down the side of the frame.
I don’t thinking either would have to be removed.
If I ever have to do it, I’d probably use Copper/Nickel Line and do it myself.

@jboudreaux1965 may know more about it?

The brake lines run inside the driver's side frame rail. From what I remember, they just snap into holders attached to the frame rail.

That is correct, I just did this.
They do run along the driver's frame rail. My clips almost all broke when I removed it due to brittleness. There is a connection/transfer block just under the driver's door area.
    Here

The lines on the right come from the engine bay, the ones on the left go back to the rear axle.

I did not route the line back in the same way though, I could not get it past the fuel tank and I did not want to drop the tank. I used a pre-bent OEM line from Toyota.
If you used copper alloy or any line you bend yourself you should be able to get it back closer to the original routing.

I was not able to route it back through in the OEM location, those two lines run back along the inside of the frame rail and go in between the frame and fuel tank.
When I removed the old one I had to cut it in a couple of places to get it all out.
I tried for quite a while to jockey both the old line, (to remove) and the new line, (to install) around and fit it back through there but with the way that it’s pre-bent it just would not work.

I ended up just routing it back over the fuel tank and spun it around until it sort of “settled” into a comfortable spot. Once I was able to make both connections I used zip ties to secure it in a few spots.

I would go take a few pictures but my truck is in the shop right now, if I get it back before you get to your line install I’ll get some posted up here.

I fed it over the tank from front to rear. I made the rear connection first and then connected to that front block. I did have to bend the line a little bit on the ends to line up connections. You may or may not have to depending on how yours sits.

The rear connection is right past the end of the fuel tank so it doesn’t need to go far.
