    I've got another 2 for today. The NCAA cleared two of our players to play in Saturday's game: Julio Jones and Mark Ingram. Apparently they took a boat trip in Mobile over the summer that everybody and his brother wanted to make into a big deal.

    I haven't followed LSU football much recently (or ever, really). What's the QB situation going to be down there this year? I have five games circled on my calendar, and LSU is definitely one of them.

    He's a great coach and a hell of a recruiter. If he will stay in one place for a while, ya'll will be successful with him. We're going to be alot better than last year...no more of that failed co-defensive coordinator experiment, and a QB that doesn't throw 7 pick-6s in one season. Our QB will be Jefferson, who started the bowl game...big guy, athletic, can run and throw, and makes much better decisions with the ball than Lee. That, in combination with Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, Brandon Lafell, and Trindon Holliday all coming back should make for a good offense. Jefferson doesn't have to be great, just has to manage the game and not make stupid decisions. Can't wait for the Bama game...just bought my tickets earlier today!

    Coming up to T-town, huh? I may be there, too. My father-in-law gives me tickets to a few home games each year. I usually get one of the big ones... so either LSU or UT this year. We should get together and beat the shit out of each other.

    I'm hoping Saban calls UA his last stop, as he's said a few times. Normally it'd be hard to believe, but there's really nowhere else 'up' he can go. Before I get flamed for that, let me explain...

    He moved up in college football to the big time (LSU), then moved up to the NFL where he failed. Now he's come back down to college and coaches at one of the big football schools. He could move to another big football school (Florida, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame), but those would be more of a lateral move rather than another step up. (At least not the same kind of step up he's made in the past).

    He just signed a contract extension (which means nothing, I know), but he's going to once again be the highest paid coach in America when his salary increases kick in next year and 2011. If he can keep Alabama performing at a high level, there's really no reason to leave.

    That's the view through my Crimson glasses, anyway...
