All this OU/UT talk doesn't matter. If the SEC is in the title game, you lose. 4 of the last 5 National Titles have been held outright by the SEC, or at least had a share of the title. Unfortunately, my Dawgs couldn't produce when they had their best shot (2008 - Knowshon, Stafford, Green), but at least the SEC proved they're the best conference in football...AGAIN.

Alabama has nothing to be mad about last year.....Saban has that program on the right path. I have the utmost respect for the Alabama program. They played OU tough under Franchione a few years back and while on probation. OU had to run a few trick plays to eek out a win in Tuscaloosa. The Tide is really just a big qb away from winning the SEC.

Clemson is the definition of mediocrity. I don't think Dabo Swinney will be the man to lead them to the promised land.

My reference to "being there" was in the MNC. I have no arguement that SEC is a great conference, and top to bottom last year they were the best. But, I don't think that they are far and away the best by any means and I don't think that it is a lock year in and year out as some SEC fans like to insenuate. Not referring to anyone posting here. Just yokles at the office.

Yes we lost to UF last year, but if any one watched the game, it was a good game. Not a blow out by any means. And the fact that the SEC was playing some wicked good defense proves that a good defense trumps a spectacular offense. OU has not been an well rounded team since Mike Stoops left. I long for the days of good defense to compliment a brilliant offense.

True.....but I think USC has an outstanding record against SEC teams this decade. The SEC is definitely the premier league. The Big-12 North needs to catch up to the South, then I think the Big-12 will catch up and hopefully surpass the SEC. I wouldn't say last year's title game was an outright dominance of the SEC. OU had many chances to win that game, and it wasn't decided until midway through the 4th qtr. At least OU put up a showing against UF unlike the Buckeyes the past two times....

I really expected Clemson to pull a bigger name coach like Will Muschamp or some other big name assistant...I was like Dabo who? As long as you continue to kick the crap out of South Carolina....lol

From a Sooner fan to another Sooner fan, I couldn't agree more about the departure of Mike....how I wish Bob would put his hands on the D. Last year I blame the loss a lot on Kevin Wilson....OU did well running the ball, and somehow we abandoned the no huddle, and the run???? We have the best TE in CFB and we don't even look his way while in the Red Zone.....WTF?

Okay guys... here are some stats for you to consider...

'08 / '09 Bowl Season win loss by conference:
    Big Ten: 1-6
    ACC: 2-6
    WAC: 1-4
    MW: 3-2
    SB: 1-1
    Pac 10: 5-0
    Big 12: 4-3
SEC: 6-2 - producing the most teams in Bowl Games and the BCS Champs with Florida

'07 / '08 Bowl Season win loss by conference:
    Pac-10: 4-2
    Big 12: 5-3
    Big East: 3-2
    Big Ten: 3-5
    ACC: 2-6
    WAC: 1-3
SEC: 7-2 - Again... not only the most teams but the National Champs in LSU:D

For the sake of my precious time here is the list of National Champions since 1999:
    99 - Tennessee
    00 - Florida State
    01 - Oklahoma
    02 - Miami
    03 - Ohio State
    04 - LSU
    05 - USC
06 - Texas (note: greatest performance I've ever seen in a title game by VY)
    07 - Florida
    08 - LSU
    09 - Florida

"Okay Kmoney... but what about all time National Champ count by conference," you ask? Here you go...

    Big East - 3
    Pac-10 - 4
    ACC - 9
    Big Ten - 13
    Big 12 – 16
    SEC - 16

Though from 1936 to 1997 the AP picked the National Champs and from 1998 on there has been a BCS "Title Game" though can't we all just agree that there should be a playoff system? (it will never happen...)

Also... that list is from a site that counts current conferences, not historic, which favors the Big Ten because it accounts for 2 Penn St. NC's. However, and I know all you 'Roll Tide'ers know that Alabama is considered the most winningest team in College Football History and could technically be accredited for 12 NC's.

AND FINALLY... All time Bowl Win/Loss/Tie and Win % By Conference. Based on historic conference affiliation:

----Bowls Wins Losses Ties Win %
    SEC: 340 184 147 9 .554
    Pac-10: 188 98 88 2 .527
    Big Ten: 202 96 105 1 .478
    ACC: 158 79 77 2 .506
    Big 8: 127 63 63 1 .500
    Southwest: 151 63 80 8 .444
    Big 12: 85 41 44 0 .482
    Big East: 70 38 32 0 .543
    WAC: 96 41 54 1 .432

It's clear that the SEC is historically the best conference in College Football.

Now... I hope you all appreciate me just being able to regurgitate this information by memory... ok just kidding, but I hope this is helpful and at least fun to look at. You could have done all the research but now you have it here at TW! ENJOY! :D

    GO SEC and GEAUX TIGERS!!!

There is no way Florida isn't going to be #1 preseason. Especially since we got Tebow for another year. BRING ON THE TEBOW HATERS.

Pre-season rankings mean nothing... I went to Bama as a freshman in the fall of 2000. We were the reigning SEC champs (thanks Shaun Alexander) and raked pre-season #3. We went on to win just 3 games that year.

Florida deserves to be #1 as long as Tebow suits up, and they could well be #1 all season long. Hopefully we can find a way to stop that kid this year, because I fully expect to be back in ATL in December.
