^^That sucks. Did he leave behind a family?

I wonder how expensive or annoying the test for an enlarged heart. I know it only affects a few people, but it seems like it's a complete surprise each time. If I went to my Dr. and said, "I want you to see if I have an enlarged heart," I wonder what he'd say, or if it'd cost me an arm and a leg.

Earl Thomas is gone. He said he is declaring for the draft.

Also, we have a kid, Timmons, coming in at receiver. He is described as a bigger Crosby, with as good, if not better hands. he is 6'3", 200. He will be a big deal. Kirkendoll needs to ride the pine. can't catch a cold.

The YouTube user UASports (which makes the official videos for Alabama) puts out some pretty badass videos for UA. They have one for each (or at least most) games this season. My favorite is the La. State game b/c of the song Run This Town by Jay Z. This one was loaded an hour ago:

Now that the NCAA doesn't have Tebow's nuts to swing from, they're banning writing on eye-black? Please, raise your hand if you've ever been offended by something written on a players eye black.

Can't we leave this up to the coaches and Universities? If it becomes a distraction, or if it's bringing negative attention to a school/team, how 'bout let the coach talk to the player. Does the NCAA really need to BAN EVERYBODY from doing it?

i like the ban. no reason for all that crap. all you should be allowed to have is your school logo. you represent your school when you are out there, not the 212 or 832 or 966, etc.

I think it's retarded. As long as it isn't gang symbols or anything personal to another player, go for it. I dind't like Tebow but thought the bible verse thing was cool. If you wanna rep your town, I don't see a big deal either. I think it's stupid to ban it. Sounds like the NCAA is taking all the individualism out of the game just like the NFL did. Let them have some kind of fun SOMEHOW.

they do have fun. they get to play college football for their university. they are part of a team. they represent their team and their university. it is not an individual game and no one individual should draw more attention to themselves due to anything other than play on the field. Hell - i almost prefer Penn State with no names on the jersey. "We are Penn State" - not "I am Penn State".

put you school logo on your eye black and call it a day.

I agree. I think if you want to come down on taunting, take it out on the individual taunting, not the team. I think the post-TD penalty is fine, but the pre-TD penalty is too subjective to cost a team a score. What if a kid high-steps into the end-zone on a go-ahead score as time expires? He shouldn't be taunting, but is it REALLY worth costing the team a game?

I like your idea of ejection. Count the points, but kick the kid out of the game. Get kicked out of a game once and I bet you don't act like an ass again.

I don't think they should penalize em for celebrating at all. If you're in a kids face talking crap, yea, that's excessive. High stepping to the end zone, pointing to the crowd, dancing, I think that should be allowed. Don't want em to do it? Don't let em in the endzone.

Yeah... I think I need to clarify my position. I don't have a problem w/ the high-stepping into the end-zone or the pointing at the crowd or the jump/chest-bump thing at all. I think it's part of the game and if you don't like it, don't let them score.

I don't think you should stand over another player, or yell in his face, or (as Tebow once did) do the gator chomp at somebody after a big play. Those should be penalized.

What I meant by my previous comment was that if the NCAA feels it MUST penalize the celebration stuff, it shouldn't be a touchdown-preventing penalty.

Thought this would be a good addition to this thread...

Our QB, Greg McElroy (who is staying for his Sr. year) was sending out Tweets during the NFL Draft. Some of them were captured in an article on BamaOnLine.com. A friend of mine who is a member of that site sent the article to me. I'm convinced our QB is a class act...

    ==================================

    Christopher Walsh
    BamaOnLine.com Senior Writer

Who needs Mel Kiper when you have the starting quarterback for the defending national champions?

Thursday evening, Alabama's Greg McElory sent out a nearly-endless stream of Twitter messages while watching the first round of the NFL Draft and gave insight to nearly every draft.

Not only did it get the attention of many Crimson Tide fans, but national media as well, causing the number of his followers to skyrocket.

    Here's a sampling:

Sam Bradford selected first overall: "Nobody deserves it more than Sam Bradford. He is such a hard a hard worker and has battled from serious adversity."

A few picks in: "According to my buddy, Tebow will be in the first round. He's a great football player. Gotta appreciate what he brought to the college game."

The follow-up: "I will be at 'Dega this weekend. And my buddy will remain private but he does play for the gators."

When Eric Berry went to Kansas City: "Eric Berry crushed me last year on the third play of the game."

On Russell Okung (sixth pick): "According to Zac Robinson last summer, Okung is a freak and a stud. Can't wait to see how everything unfolds tonight."

On Rolando: "According to my source, Rolando is looking at either Denver or the New York Giants. But you never know in the draft."

The follow-up: "The hardest hit last year resulted in broken ribs. His name was Brandon Spikes."

Joe Haden goes to Cleveland: "Gotta funny story about Haden. On the screen to Mark in the 3rd quarter, he ran right by me and said, 'Dang, nice sell bro.'"

    Rolando selected: "Yes!!!!!!!"

The follow-up: "Couldn't be happier to be wrong in my entire life. Our leader and one heck of a player. So glad to see him come off the board."

Another pick: "Kareem is next most likely. Let's keep our fingers crossed for sooner rather than later."

The follow-up: "Seriously, how does everyone feel about the draft. I love it so much."

Another follow-up: "I love the delayed reaction from everyone when they show the draft parties of all the players."

San Diego trades up for Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews: "Mathews is unreal on film. Watched it when coach Mac came to Bama. He is awesome. Great pick."

Broncos trade down, positioning themselves for Tebow: "I wonder why the Broncos traded down, wanted Rolando perhaps?"

Earl Thomas taken by Seattle: "One more stud I played against. As fast as anyone I've seen on film. Such a great and intelligent player."

Mike Iupati selected by San Francisco: "Mike Johnson said Iupati was awesome. Obviously he was right."

Pittsburgh's pick is made by someone through the Make-A-Wish Foundation: "Wow, so cool to be able to announce the 1st round pick for the NFL Draft. Zachary Hatfield, you are an inspiration."

Florida's Markice Pouncey going to the Steelers: "According to Cory Reamer, Pouncey was the most physical player he's seen on film. Looking forward to following his career."

Sam Weatherspoon goes to Atlanta: "I know Chase (Daniel) is happy to see another Missouri Tiger being drafted early. They are producing some great talent."

Jackson is the 20th pick: "KJ is going to Texas!!"

The follow-up: "KJ made me a better player day in and day out. So happy to see a guy have so much success. He deserves it so much. I'll be rooting for him."

Jermaine Gresham goes to Cincinnati: "Carson (Palmer) is a longtime friend of the family and I'm excited to see what he can do with a player as talented as J. Gresham."

More on Jackson: "I love the Cowboys more than anything, but I'm anxious to see how Kareem matches up against Miles Austin and Roy Williams."

Denver takes Demaryius Thomas: "Colin Peek played with Thomas, said he was a physical player. Couldn't showcase it much in the offense, but he's a stud."

The follow-up, in response to a question: "College football is a small world, so it's easy to know everyone."

Dez Bryant to the Cowboys: "Dez! He's one of the best players I've seen up close. Played him two years (ago) and he killed us but he is unreal."

Denver picks Tebow: "Did I call the Tebow pick or what!!"

The follow-up: "They just showed one of my best friends, Pat Benoist, #30 for Vandy. He got stiff-armed by Tebow. Hahahahahahaah."

Another follow-up: "Tebow is such a role model. Everyone should appreciate what he did for the college game."

Dan Williams of Tennessee goes to Arizona: "Once again another guy who lit me up. Dan Williams was a big man. Definitely under-appreciated. He wrecked havoc all day against us."

The follow-up: "Not one highlight of me getting clobbered. I'm a little disappointed."
