Oh yeah, it's been a while. I've got a completely different Tacoma now. Going to try to re-live my youth with this one...
If this is considered a street truck, cool. If not, I'll re post where it should be.
    I've got an '09 Tacoma 5 lug 2wd. It's a reg cab, hort bed, 2.7 with a 5 speed manual.
My plan is to lower it as low as I feel makes it look good (for now), put wheels and tires on it, add a few engine upgrades and drive it...
    *So far I've done:
Tinted windows, AVS vent visors, AF Dynamic Air Intake, Kenwood deck w/wiring for an amp and subs, factory chrome grill, chrome rear bumper, fiberglass tonneau cover...
    *On order:
    LC Engineering
    •2TR Long Tube Header
    •Cat Back Exhaust
    •Pro Clutch
    •Lightened Flywheel
    •Bully Dog GT Tuner
    •DJM 3/4 kit w/balljoints
    •Feal Coilovers
    •MRR VP5 gunmetal 19x8.5 35mm wheels
•Used bucket seats out of a 2nd gen pickup
    •Painted front bumper
    •XAT Racing Big Brake Kit
    URD short throw shifter
•Performance Pedals aluminum pedals w/foot rest

I'm still looking at a few things like tires, amp subs, finding a center console out of a crew cab for a manual trans...

I will do my best to post photos as I build up the truck...

If you have negative things to say, just keep it to yourself and go to a different posting. I really don't want the negativity.

For those interested, here we go!

Hell yeah! You'll love the short throw shifter and the DJM kit. From experience with mine, I'd recommend having the c-notches welded in rather than just bolted. Looks like a really clean starting truck too! I don't have any experience with that tuner, but I highly recommend a pedal commander of some kind. I have the sprint booster and it makes a huge world of difference. Good luck with your build, here's a pic of what mine looked like when I first got it. Can't wait to see how yours looks

That's a great looking truck. I appreciate your info. I plan on welding in the notches and possibly making bigger ones so I can go lower. We'll see.
They seem like really fun trucks when all the right parts are used.
I've got a ton of parts showing up so I'm hoping to start putting them on soon!

The Feal coilovers are great, some people think they're a little stiff for the RC. I autocross mine and daily drove it for a year with them, I love them. Can't wait to see the progress

That's good to hear. I was a little worried. I'm used to lowered vehicles so I am expecting it to be a bit firmer that stock for sure. I bought them with the intent to get the front at least an inch lower than the DJM kit provides.

You'll definitely get that, and then some if you wanted it. I measured out my total drop at ~5 inches in the front when I first got it home. Ended up picking it back up to about 4 inches because I was almost on the bumpstops in the front. I can safely say, a 5 inch block in the rear is the absolute lowest you can go with the DJM notch. At that height, you'll have to trim bed cross members, move brake lines, and low-profile bump stops will have barely an inch of clearance at static height.

edit: 5 inch block and updated 4x4 leaf springs for about 6- 6 1/2 inches of drop total.

Oh wow! Good to know. Thanks again for the useful info.
For now, I'm thinking a 4/5 drop will keep me happy. My plan is to bag and bodydrop it down the road.
It'll be a lot of work but it'll be cool when it's done.

Hell yeah, I don't think I've seen any threads on here regarding a body drop. If you want to do bags, why go static first?

It'll allow me to enjoy the truck as a "lowered" minitruck while I save up for the bag/bodydrop stuff. It's probably a year or two out...

It's a lot of fun. There's a thread here in the street truck forum- 2002 Tacoma for autocross- I've posted a bunch of pictures and experience in there. Welcome back to the site!

1041056-2.jpg Well there's been a few things happen since I was on here last. Not really anything that would be too interesting to document with pictures but here's an update. I'll take a few pictures and post them tomorrow...

    1. Kenwood deck with all wiring for an amp and subs.
    2. Bullydog GT partially installed. Waiting to talk to tech for initial setup. I'm not good with tech stuff...
    3. PLX-DM-6-SM-AFR-Wideband-AFR-Combo installed in a FlexPod gauge mount.
    4. LC Engineering long tube header
    5. Pro Flow Cat Back Exhaust System
    6. Pro Clutch/Flywheel Bundle Kit

Stay tuned, going to do a big brake upgrade, lower the truck, add coolovers and a rear sway bar. It's going to sit on 19" rims rocking 225/40R19 all season/winter tires. I've also got an LC Engineering short throw shifter on its way... IMG_20200408_151713.jpg Screenshot_20220907-204013_Samsung_Internet.jpg

20221006_185347.jpg 20221006_185355.jpg Here's a view of the dash/gauge area and where the Bullydog and PLX gauge will be. I've recently discovered a factory backup camera in the tailgate. Kinda weird since the truck is a base model and didn't have a screen anywhere. I'm going to wire it up to my Kenwood deck and hope it works. Gotta to a 6v drop on it as well.
Here's the header installed as well as the cat back exhaust. Thanks to CES for the install and additional O2 bung for my PLX gauge. The truck sounds awesome! These pictures suck. I'll get more when it's on the lift for the suspension install...20221005_174013.jpg 20221005_174136.jpg 20221005_174113.jpg
